Contact Impro Beginner 6-week Course - David Middendorp

About this event

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?

This 6-week beginners course is designed to give you a solid foundation in Contact Improvisation. Step by step, we’ll guide you through some of its essential principles and skills, giving you the tools and confidence to explore CI and join open classes and jams.

Contact Improvisation is a playful dance form in which you move and improvise together with others. Through weight, balance, touch and shared movement, you discover new ways of moving, communicating and responding to another body.

The course is designed as a journey: each class builds on what you have explored and learned in the previous sessions. We move from technical foundations towards greater trust, awareness, creativity and freedom in your dancing.

No prior dance experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to move.

For the richest experience, we recommend joining the full 6-week course. Drop-in classes are also available if you’re unable to attend the complete series.

We encourage people to let go of control, trust their instincts and each other, and discover new, unexpected ways of moving.
