About this event

What happens when you use an app to capture improvisation and create a choreography from it?
In this presentation, you will see the result of a creative process in which dancers worked with Kandinsky, an experimental choreographic tool being developed by Another Kind of Blue. The choreography did not emerge from pre-set steps, but rather through play, drawing, making choices, and reinterpreting movement—an intriguing interplay between body and technology.
Kandinsky does not generate choreography or take over the creative process. Instead, the tool helps dancers and choreographers capture ideas, explore new possibilities, and navigate the space between improvisation and composition.
During this presentation, you will see the final result of this creative process and learn more about Kandinsky and how the dancers worked with it.
Curious about how drawing, music, and movement come together in Kandinsky? Watch the short video for a first impression of the app and the creative process:

We then bring the drawn lines back to the body. How can a line be translated into movement? How do different dancers interpret the same drawing? And how can material from an improvisation be repeated, edited, and further developed into a short composition?
Who is this for?
For dancers, dance teachers, creators, choreographers, and anyone curious about improvisation, choreography, and the relationship between dance and technology.
