Conscious Movement, Ecstatic Dance & Meditation
3-hour Workshop with Veda Ela (www.vedaelayoga.com)
What happens when you stop trying to quiet the mind — and let the body lead instead?
Sometimes we don’t need to understand more. We need to move. To breathe. To dance. To feel our feet on the ground, allow the body to express what words cannot, and rediscover the silence that is already there underneath all the noise.
This three-hour journey invites you out of the thinking mind and into the direct experience of the body through conscious movement, ecstatic dance and meditation.
We will explore two elemental qualities: Earth and Water — grounding into our strength and presence, then moving into fluidity, softness and flow.
Dance can be a powerful way to release what has accumulated in the body and create space for something new.
As we move without having to perform or follow a particular form, tension can soften, energy begins to move and the mind can gradually become quieter. We can then reconnect with our natural vitality and sense of wellbeing.
There is a teaching often associated with shamanic traditions: when someone came to a healer feeling disheartened or dispirited, they might be asked:
When was the last time you danced?
When was the last time you sang?
When was the last time you were in silence?
These simple questions remind us of something we can easily forget: movement, expression and silence are deeply connected to our sense of aliveness and wellbeing.
Earth invites us to ground, feel our feet, inhabit the body and reconnect with our strength and presence.
Water brings us into a softer, more fluid quality. We explore the liquid body through gentle, organic movement — flowing rather than controlling, listening rather than directing, and discovering new possibilities in the way we move and feel.
From grounding to expression, from intensity to fluidity, movement gradually becomes a pathway into stillness and silence.
We close with passive meditation and deep relaxation, giving the body time to integrate and allowing ourselves to experience the quiet that becomes available when movement comes to rest.
No dance experience is necessary. Only a willingness to move, feel, explore and meet yourself through the body.
