Steppin' presents: Damani (Live at Hidden Gem Studio)

About this event

In collaboration with Amarte Funds, Steppin’ Into Tomorrow is continuing the series of intimate live performances in a fresh new space, Hidden Gem Studio in Amsterdam. Next up: Damani.

Rooted in neo-soul, alternative R&B, and Afro-Surinamese traditions, Damani blends smooth vocals with warm, organic live instrumentation and a deep love of improvisation. Their music feels intimate. As they put it: “Music should feel like a conversation between the past, present, and future.” Live, Damani invites the audience into something that feels part concert, part ritual, part hangout. You will hear vocals in Sranantongo, lyrics that speak from the heart, and grooves that stretch across continents. As Theaterkrant wrote: “Musically, the performance is strong thanks to [Damani]’s beautiful vocals, accompanied by pure African rhythms. These are powerful songs, radiating vitality.”

Steppin' Into Tomorrow is the musical doorway for contemporary music with an ear for today's sound. A platform and a community that provides in-depth articles, interviews, radio shows, and events to introduce you to the finest rising talent from Dutch soil and beyond.
Hidden Gem Studio was founded in 2022 with the philosophy to create a space within the city where artists can create, record and perform their unique experiences in a homelike and timeless environment.
