About this event
Your Playful Self
An afternoon of playfighting, movement and play without a goal. For anyone who's forgotten what that feels like.
About this event
When did you last actually play? The way you used to as a child. Completely absorbed in whatever it is you are doing, and fully in the here and now the whole time.
Somehow most of us forgot how to over time. Somewhere between the first job and the first real responsibilities, we started confusing 'being an adult' with 'taking ourselves too seriously'. The playful kid got replaced by someone responsible and reliable, who only lets loose when they secretly know they are still in control. (Or when there is enough alcohol flowing)
It that's you, this is your invitation to join Your Playful Self.
This is the first edition of a recurring series, and every edition has its own focus. This time, playfighting is the star of the show.
Through body-based exercises and playful wrestling you slowly start coming back to your body after spending so much time stuck in your head. Without having to overthink every move, you can simply be in the present moment (which is where all the fun happens ;))
You (re)discover where your boundaries are, ánd what you actually want. You find out by feeling it, in your body, with others around you willing to do the same.
No experience needed. You don't need to be flexible, extroverted, or any kind of "physical person."
There is no "right" or "wrong." You just need to be willing to drop your adult self for a few hours.
Who it's for
This workshop is open to everyone; all ages and genders welcome.
This is for you if:
- You're always in your head.
- You're getting tired of always being reliable and composed
- You know your boundaries in theory, but can't feel them in the moment.
- You're a people-pleaser who says yes before checking whether you mean it.
The themes we touch on (feeling your boundaries, trusting your impulses, daring to express your needs and wants, and showing yourself without a mask) go deep, but are most effectively worked on through play. You don't need another reason to over-analyse, and this workshop won't ask you to.
What you leave with
Underneath the fun you work on real skills: setting boundaries and meaning it, reading others' boundaries, saying no without over-explaining and yes without hesitating. Your body learns this faster than your mind ever could by thinking it through. You go home lighter, more in your body, and with a clearer sense of your yes and your no.
The afternoon flow:
🌟Arrive and land
🌟Connection games with no fixed outcome
🌟Boundaries and impulse practices
🌟Guided playfight rounds
🌟A little free play
🌟Closing
Safety & consent
🛟 Everything in this workshop is an invitation, and I encourage you to alter, adjust, or sit out any practices that don't feel right for you. You set your own boundaries and pace.
🛟 We start by exploring and practising boundaries. Nobody gets thrown into the deep end. Every playfight round is guided.
🛟 Physical contact always happens with mutual consent. You can name what does and doesn't work for you at any point, and you can step out and watch whenever you need to. This is a non-sexual space.
