About this event
On 12 August 2026, a deep partial solar eclipse passes over Amsterdam. At 20:11 the light reaches its strangest point — and at that same instant, 18:11 UTC, people across every continent will pause together for peace.
We are holding that moment in the Amstelkerk: a live gathering in Amsterdam, shared online so that anyone, anywhere, can join beneath the same sky.
Wednesday 12 August · Amstelkerk, Amstelveld 10 · doors 18:00 · ends ~21:30 Tickets from €20 · duo ticket €50 · ISO-certified eclipse glasses included
The evening
The evening unfolds slowly, but with depth. Luci Rain fills the church with mantra and sacred chant. As the light begins to change we move outside together and enter a shared silence — the same silence being held in Karachi, in New York, in Tokyo.
This is less something to watch than something to become part of.
18:00 — Doors open Arrive, settle into the space, take time to land.
18:30 — Welcome We open the shared intention of the evening, together with everyone joining online.
19:00 — Mantra ceremony with Luci Rain A live devotional journey through mantra, voice and sacred song.
20:00 — We move outside Eclipse glasses are handed out. We gather on the Amstelveld as the light thins and cools.
20:11 — Maximum eclipse The centre of the evening: shared stillness, held at the same instant in Amsterdam and around the world.
20:30 — World Peace Meditation We return inside for the closing meditation and grounding.
21:30 — Close The last of us leave quietly.
Times may shift slightly so that we can follow the natural rhythm of the evening.
About Luci Rain
Luci Rain (@lucirain222) is an Amsterdam-based artist working with mantra, sacred song and ceremony. Her recent EP Lucid Ritual — Devi moves between meditation, music and prayer. Her voice carries the heart of this evening.
Good to know
Eclipse glasses are provided for everyone. Never look at the sun without them.
Dress in layers — we will be outside for part of the evening.
Amsterdam skies may be cloudy. We gather all the same. Even through cloud, the dimming light and the drop in temperature are unmistakable, and the shared silence does not depend on the sky.
No experience needed. You do not need to know any mantras, and you do not need to sing. Many people simply sit and listen.
Come alone or bring someone. A duo ticket is €50.
Can't be in Amsterdam? The online circle is free and open to anyone in the world — details on our page.
How we hold the space
This is a phone-free, substance-free ceremonial space. Please arrive sober and keep phones off and out of sight once we begin. Water is welcome; please leave food outside the ceremonial area.
Nothing to capture. Nothing to consume. Simply arrive and be present.
One more thing
This is a heart-led, non-commercial gathering, open to everyone — whatever you believe and wherever you come from. It is not connected to any religion, political party or movement. The Amstelkerk is a historic church used here as a cultural venue, not a place of worship for this evening.
It begins with a simple wish: to pause together for peace, beneath one shared sky.
Hosted by the Embassy of Peace, Amsterdam.
Yours truly, Galib Gedik
